​​At Adoption Consultants, Inc. you are provided with guidance and support throughout your adoption journey, from initial consultation and informational gathering, through the finalization of any adoption plan. The office can assist in helping coordinate key elements which we believe are vital to a successful adoption plan. Prospective adopting parents may benefit from the following general services listed below:
​Initial consultation and orientation with prospective adoptive parent(s), including explanation of the adoption process in general and Adoption Consultants Inc.;
​General advertising and outreach program to locate potenial birth mothers;
​Guidance and assistance in the creation of your Profile (Birth Mother letter), including with the selection of accompanying images;
​Assistance to help you in determining what criteria is important to you in creating your adoption plan;
​Guidance in preparation of Adoption Consultants Inc.'s prospective adoptive parent(s) questionnaires;
​Adoption education, guidance and emotional support during your adoption pursuit with Adoption Consultants Inc.;
​​Screening, accessing and evaluating birth mothers responding to Adoption Consultants Inc.'s advertising and outreach, including intake of birth mother to help determine interest in adoption and commitment level towards an adoption plan, as well as explanation of the adoption process to the birth mother; ​
​Obtain available and accessible background information from birth mother, such as birth father information, any support system for the birth mother, pre-natal care, etc.
​Obtain confirmation of pregnancy;
​Request signed Authorization for Release of Medical Records document from birth mother allowing access to a birth mother's pre-natal medical records;
​Request applicable available medical records concerning birth mother and child;
​Presentation of Birth Mother letter to birth mothers who birth mother's criteria meets your own;
​Obtaining available medical/health and psycho-social information on birth parent(s) and child as provided to Adoption Consultants Inc. from birth parent(s) questionnaires;
​Remittance of birth parent(s) background informational paperwork, available applicable medical records and available photographs shared by birth mother to prospective adoptive parent(s) for review for evaluation;
Arranging, or assisting in arranging, for birth mother to speak with an adoption attorney and/or agency;
​Request birth mother to be tested for the presence of drugs and HIV if not already recently tested;
​Help facilitating the "mutual match" process between prospective adoptive parent(s) and a birth mother upon mutual expressed interest;
​Coordinate any initial telephone contact between prospective adoptive parent(s) and birth mother;
​​Provide guidance to prospective adoptive parent(s) in areas such as how to communicate with their birth mother, what questions they may want to ask of her, what areas they might wish to explore (or further explore) with her, and what possible "red flags" to be aware of and/or watch for;
​Assistance to prospective adoptive parent(s) and their birth mother in helping coordinate any meetings between them;
​​Provide written confirmation of a "mutual match" that has been decided upon and made by and between prospective adoptive parent(s) and birth mother to both parties;
​Guidance to prospectve adoptive parent(s) in arranging for a Home Study, as requested;
​​Assist prospective adoptive parent(s) and/or birth mother with information concerning housing arrangements, food, clothing, medical physicians, child birth classes, therapeutic adoption therapists and government assistance programs such as WIC, CalWORKs (Cash-Aid), Medi-Cal/Medi-Caid, as requested;
​​Provide adoption attorney/agency with available health/medical and psycho-social information on birth parent(s) as provided to Adoption Consultants Inc. from birth parent questionnaires;
​Passing on of any pertinent or desired information to prospective adoptive parent's/birth mother's adoption attorney/agency;
​​Adoption Consultants Inc. will communicate all pertinent information on developments Adoption Consultants Inc. is aware of to prospective adoptive parent(s) pertaining to their birth mother and/or adoption plan with birth mother;
​Discuss with birth mother and prospective adoptive parent(s) birth mother's preferences during her hospital stay;
​Alert appropriate hospital departments of birth mother's preferences during her hospital stay;
​​Interface with appropriate hospital staff, including hospital social worker and attending nurse, throughout birth mother's stay to help facilitate and aid in as smooth a transition as possible at the hospital for both prospective adoptive parent(s) and birth mother;
​​Attendance at hospital by an Adoption Consultants Inc. Birth Mother Advisor following birth of child, unless distance or circumstances preclude attendance;
​​Provide available on-going support and guidance post-birth and post-placement to prospective adoptive parent(s) and birth mother throughout the adoption process;
​​Offer birth mother peer counseling and support from other birth mothers who have previously placed their children for adoption where possible; and,
​​On-going communication with birth mother following birth for as long a time period as birth mother may desire.
